The objective of this test is to define the corrosion caused during exposure of metal or organic materials to a saline environment over a given period of time, thus enabling pore or other types of defects to be detected in some metal, organic, anodic oxide coatings o conversion layers.

Test methods

The method applied at our laboratory is the neutral saline mist that uses a solution of sodium chloride of known characteristics that is sprayed into a controlled atmosphere.
