Electrical properties test

The objective of this test is to determine whether the pipe system meets suitable electrical properties since the purpose of the product is to channel cables from one point to another under safe conditions in an installation.

Test methods

The test method depends on the type of material the ducting system consists of.

Metal pipe systems: For this type of product the continuity is measured to ensure it guarantees equipotential connection and a possible earth connection between sections of the product and the joints.

Insulating or compound insulating material pipe systems: Both the pipe and its accessories must ensure that no electrical currents run through it as a result of housing the cable. The following items are measured:
- Voltage supported at industrial frequency.
- Resistance of the continuous voltage insulation.
