On 6 and 7 June, 2013, China Plastic Pipes Association, CPPA, held its annual conference in the city of Chengdu, China. This Association includes over 400 companies involved in the plastic pipes world such as manufacturers, suppliers of raw materials, research institutes, test centres and institucional organisations.

During the annual conference, the Secretary General of the Association, Mr. Wang ZhanJie, highlighted the importance of using quality products and raw materials in the production of pipes, and attention was drawn to the fact that the groups of users had a growing interest in issues relating to compliance with standards in the manufacturing of plastic pipes and their subsequent verification.

The Chinese plastic pipes market processed eleven million tons of raw materials, accounting for a 10% increase vis-à-vis the previous year. Nevertheless, this increase was the smallest one registered in the last 5 years and provisional data relating to 2013 foresee an increase from 10 to 15% for 2013.

Federico Muñoz, Development and Production Director at ceis and Ricardo Pascual, Deputy Director of Construction Products at AENOR Technical Directorate, attended the annual conference and had the opportunity to give a presentation on the possibilities and solutions that the AENOR mark and ceis tests provide when exporting products to other markets. Moreover, they had a meeting with the Secretary General of the Association, Mr. Wang ZhanJie, and the Vice Secretary General, Mrs. ZhaoYan, to explore the collaboration opportunities in the different organisations.
